PROGRAMME

Mother Earth, a short piece by renowned composer David Maslanka will open the concert. It will be followed by Steven Bryant’s Ecstatic Waters, another composition that includes references to nature. Full of nuance, with many subtle passages, it ingeniously uses brass and percussion to evoke the sounds of water.

These two modern works will be followed by the premiere of a totally contemporary piece by David Moliner, commissioned by L’Auditori. This young composer and percussionist, who plays both classical and contemporary music, has received many distinctions, including the Roche Young Commissions Award at the Lucerne Festival.

The concert will culminate with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s symphonic poem, inspired by Canto V of the Divine Comedy, in which Dante recounts in verse the tragedy of the lovers Francesca da Rimini and Paolo Malatesta.
