José María García de Paredes (Sevilla, 20 de febrero de 1924 – Madrid, 6 de febrero de 1990) fue uno de los principales arquitectos españoles de la segunda mitad del siglo XX, y conocido principalmente por sus grandes proyectos de auditorios repartidos a lo largo de todo el territorio peninsular, como el Auditorio Nacional de Música en la ciudad de Madrid o el Palacio de la Música y Congresos de Valencia.
Comisariada por su hija Ángela García de Paredes, quién siguió los pasos de su padre al hacerse también arquitecta, la muestra conmemora el centenario del nacimiento de este gran arquitecto a través de una extensa selección de obras, entre las que se encuentran planos, maquetas, dibujos o fotografías; extraídas de su inabarcable archivo, mostrando asimismo una amplia perspectiva de su legado, y ofreciendo una visión del rico panorama cultural, arquitectónico y artístico de su tiempo.
“José María García de Paredes. Espacios de encuentro”, es fruto de la colaboración entre Fundación ICO y el Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, que ha llevado a cabo la rigurosa catalogación del material original del archivo García de Paredes donado por la familia a la institución en el año 2021.
